12 Years Ago Today

August 25, 2009

12 years ago today, I got up early to go the the hospital to have a c-section. Ellie was breach so a c-section was mandatory.

I got the epidural and then had to sit for 4 hours before they put the actual “meds” in. It made my neck hurt but no one cared to listen.  Really scary for a first time Mom. Finally, they took me to the operating room.  The doctor decided to pull out my uterus to show Kyle my ovaries…and I am lying there thinking “what the heck”!!

After all of the nurses and the doctor jumping on me with all of their body weight,  they pulled Ellie out.  As soon as they put her beside my face, she stopped crying….

After all of the terror was over, all I felt was happiness. She was beautiful. I loved her instantly and realized what it meant to love someone more than you love yourself.

Ellie Grace- I want to wish you a wonderful birthday. That you so much for making my life so happy. You are amazing!!! Love you bunches!! 100_2663

cleaning the toilet

January 20, 2008

100_3814.jpg Well, it is official, kids will fight over anything.

We are having my friend Jenny over for lunch for her birthday. We were cleaning the house. I asked Emma to clean the toilet. This is usually Emma’s job because Emma is my hardest working child.  She likes to clean. Well, today, all three girls wanted to clean the toilet.  Actually, I think Ellie was just pretending to want to clean. Emma and Cara got in a huge fight over who would clean the toilet.

That just goes to show, we all want what we don’t have. : )

Happy Birthday to Jenny! You are precious to me. You know how much I depend on you and you never let me down. Love you!!!

The story of Ellie

August 24, 2007

My first born is turning 10 tomorrow.

I remember when she was born.

She was crying and they put her next to me and she stopped.

I learned a lot about motherhood in that moment.

I love you Ellie. You are beautiful, smart and funny.

Thanks for teaching me how to be a mom!

 Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Kyle

Happy birthday Kyle!

I know it is a day late because of a nasty stomach virus that invaded our home.

You are such a gift from God.

You are a great husband, dad and friend.

 I love you bunches!

The end of the gells

August 14, 2007

When trying to decide what is “blogworthy”  I try to make sure I have learned a lesson. This is just something that is causing some emotion in me. I decided I would share it.

Cara turned 4 in July.  Since she has been talking, she hasn’t been able to say her r’s.  Her funniest word has been girl.  She calls them gells or maybe gails.  We have all adopted the word. Our girls are gells.  All girls are gells.

Ellie and Emma have been trying to teach her to say girl.  She hasn’t even come close to getting it right UNTIL today.  She was talking to me about a gell and then all of a sudden she said ” she’s a girl”.  I acted happy. I jumped up and down with her.  Inside I wanted to cry.  It was the one thing that still sounded “baby”.

We called her daddy and he bragged on her and praised her.  Then he told me how sad he was. He said ” I wish we had never tried to teach her that”.

I know we all grow when it is time.  I know God’s timing is perfect.  I am just a little bit sad in this case.

Happy Bday Debby

The Differences Between Boys and Girls

July 15, 2007

We have 3 girls in our family.  There is a family down the street with 2 boys.  The 6 six year old boy and our six year old are best friends.  Since there are no girls in Tucker’s family he finds our family strange.

The other day Tucker’s mom was asking Emma what she wanted for her birthday. Emma said “Barbie heads”. She meant the Barbie head where kids can fix the hair.  Tucker looked at his mom in shock and said “why does she just want HEADS”.

This is a funny example of how we view things differently because of our experiences.  God is constantly teaching me to be patient with people because we are all so very different.  Let’s be kind!!

 Have a great week!!!
