100_3255 It went well. She did see a few little kisses and a fight but everything else was okay.  I said “did someone kiss you”? and she said “GROSS, no”…lol

Middle Schoolers

September 14, 2009

100_2650  At the elementary school we wait in the car LINE….so everything is orderly and all the kids straight to their parents car..

At the middle school, we park and sit there. Soon, the kids start walking very sluggishly out the door. They are in groups and seem to enjoy much hugging on the way to their poor parents, who have most likely already been in one car line for an hour or more…hmmmm…okay, sorry, back to topic.

The strange thing about this is the fact that even though there is about 500 cars in the parking lot, they do not see them.  I don’t mean they try to be cool and ignore them, I mean, they actually do not know the cars are there. If it is not their car, they do not see it and do not make any attempt to avoid it.  Several times I have looked to make sure no one was behind me only to be shocked as a kid walks right in my path as I back out. It scares me to death, the tween never even notices there was danger.

Today, I was texting my friends about this very phenomenon and telling Ellie about it, when I say ‘look, this little 8th grader with the cell phone is oblivious to traffic”, then, she walks right out in front of me….she NEVER looks….she is completely unaware I almost ran over her…this even shocked Ellie…

I texted my friend Kathy about it and she said “middle schoolers just expect everyone else to see them”….perfect quote…so correct.

I promise I will try very hard everyday to avoid the dazed kiddos….;)

The Office

August 24, 2009

Well, I went to the office at Ellie’s school today. the lady I talked to (not real sure if she is a counselor or principal) took the note very seriously. She said she would call the girl to the office to talk and that they RARELY had to be called twice because they get scared….so, let’s just hope and pray that this ends here….

so….

August 22, 2009

We are still having a few issues with middle school. Well, with kids.

Last night Ellie had her YUC farewell at church. It is where they move from the “youth under construction” to the real “youth”… it is a fun night with lots of memories shared.

When we first got there, one of Ellie’s friends handed her a note from a girl at school that was really hateful to Ellie last May in the 6th grade.  I have blocked all contact from this child so she had to resort to going thru another YUC…(this child does not attend the same church as we do)….

The letter was nasty…it ruined Ellie’s night for about an hour.  The cool thing was Ellie’s close friends cheered her up. Not because they had heard about the letter but because they are all so sweet and they love her.  Sometimes, having a talent (singing for Ellie, other things for other kids, too) can make kids target someone.  Ellie doesn’t care because her passion for singing is ENORMOUS! The kids last night embrace that and encourage Ellie to sing.  The meaning of true friendship prevailed and the night was a success.

That leaves me with the mean note.  I am taking it to the principal on Monday to have the matter dealt with because the letter was written on school property and it is harrassment.  I am also praying for this child. God loves her too, no matter what. Ellie is praying for her too.  Life can be hard and lessons have to be learned. Good 100_2650d will come from everything eventually…but it doesn’t make it any easier to have someone be mean to your child. LOL….

Middle School

August 20, 2009

This has been an adjustment.  Ellie will be 12 next week. She is still so young. She has been tormented in middle school by some mean boys.  They have called her “ugly” and said other mean things.  It is heart breaking to a parent.

After much prayer by lots of good friends….Ellie had a better day yesterday. Yay! Her teacher moved her away from the bully boy. She didn’t even mind walking in today.

Life is hard when you have a middle schooler. It is like you have to wait until 3 pm for your heart to get home. :) 100_2598

August 15, 2009

Today, I was taking Cara to a birthday party. On the way we passed a group of girls, they looked about 12…they were riding bikes on a busy street.

me- oh my goodness, that girl is riding with her hands off the hadle bars…she could get hurt on this street!

Cara- Well, ALSO, she has on a shirt that shows her belly button…I’ll bet she wants boys to look at her. I will never do that.

me- I am glad you would never do that because I won’t let you do that.

Cara- I mean, when I am older..I will never do that. I KNOW that I can’t do that at 6!  That is just not good for girls to dress like that.  Her mother must not have a brain to let her go out like that.

me- Okay, let’s say, you are home without me and you are getting dressed…you look in your closet and see a shirt that shows your belly button…what do you do?

Cara- well, I throw it away. I would not wear it….and I know Samantha (cara’s bestfriend) would never do that either.

LOL! Cara is so dramatic when she talks that is is hilarious. Keep in mind, she has an almost 12 year old sister who I have to set a dress code with. lol…000_0504

Heard Around My House

August 5, 2009

All the kids wake up from upstairs and come down and get in my bed and watch Disney while waiting for breakfast. Emma and Cara have been in school for two week while Ellie starts on Monday.  Emma and Cara aren’t used to Ellie getting up with them yet. So, Ellie came down early today and jumped in my bed with Cara to watch Tv. Cara had a cow! I said “why are you so upset Ellie is in the bed”? and she said in a very upset voice “because she will POOT”…

I gave Cara a big hug the other day and I said “you are a sweetie” and she said “I can be a little devil”…

Cara and Mary (friend) were walking downstairs giggling and I looked at them. Cara said “we were talking about periods”, Mary said “you started it”, the Cara said “you started it” then they both yelled “liar”…….then they went happily outside to play.

Cara was making her barbie’s talk to each other and she said “oh….you are so GIRLY”…100_0470

Designing Child

December 7, 2008

000_26381When Emma was a baby, she would sit and stare into her closet at her clothing and smile……over and over and over. Now, she is designing !!

Emma and Cara were watching Ice Princess and Emma decided to take 2 of my old shirts and make Ice Skating outfits for them. She did a really good job!

The Wal Mart incident

December 1, 2008

I am really sad about the person getting trampled at Wal Mart.  If you didn’t hear, a worker was trampled to death at wal mart by  shoppers on Black Friday. He was trying to save a pregnant woman…..

This says we all need a new lesson on the meaning of Christmas. We are humans not a herd of cattle. I really hope they prosecute the people who did that.

I know this is a joyful blog but sometimes I just have to vent about current events.  Let’s spread PEACE and HARMONY this Christmas!!!000_2517
