Tonight is homecoming

 Tonight is Ellie’s first homecoming dance. How time flies. They do not dress up too much. I just bought her a new blouse. She will be so cute. I can’t wait! I will post pics too.

 I really loved this movie! It was very uplifting…I think both women had amazing stories. It is a great chick flick!

Having a Child Who Sings

 I am not a stage mother. I leave Ellie’s singing up to her. All she asks is for me to find her places to sing.  So, this past weekend was her third talent show.  She picked out her song and we found a dress together. We went to get her hair done and I did her makeup.

 When we got there, I noticed most of the mom’s were like me…leaving it up to their kids to sing because the passion belonged to the kids. There was one mom, however, who kinda freaked me out…so I have made a pact with myself NEVER to be a stage mother.  Ellie was oblivious and just loved chatting with the other girls.

 When it was Ellie’s turn to sing, she was all smiles and excited. I was a nervous wreck in the audience..lol..she was up there singing away and her music skipped, not once, but 3 times. This took a lot of her confidence away as she was nervous it was going to skip again.  It didn’t skip in rehersal so I have to admit I found it annoying that the sound people didn’t take better care of the music.  Ellie finished the song like a pro but it did effect her proformance.

 She ended up with 5th place…when I went backstage after the show, she took one look at me and started crying. It broke my heart (and several other people who saw it)….My friend Donna and I took Ellie and a friend to get dinner and she cheered up…I asked her if she wanted to take a break from singing and she said “no”…she is tough and just LOVES to sing.

 I am so proud of her!!!!!

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009!!

Wow, 2008 was an interesting year! We were on Supernanny, which only led to positive results!!! Cara started kindergarten and I am hoping she will quit embracing her inner baby so much in the next few months!! Cara also lost 2 teeth, Emma lost her two front teeth, even Ellie lost a few molars….
I had a long journey through writing and painting (I love this)….I also learned how it feels to be extremely depressed and have to go on medication.
Overall, it has been a year of learning for all of us. A year that has led me to want to show others understanding and compassion. I hope to be able to do that…..

A New favorite Thing

I received a great gift for Christmas. It is called the flip camera. I love it. It is the size of a cell phone and you can record up close on it and then stick it in the computer and upload or attach it to the TV and watch. It is tiny and so easy to carry around. We are having so much fun with it!!! Woo Hoo!!!
